Reflections on Traditional Jobs

Working while studying is a challenge that deserves respect, especially when you manage to balance both responsibilities. It's admirable to see people progressing in their studies while holding a job, because it's inevitable that work obligations will, to some degree, affect academic performance. In many cases, these jobs can feel like a waste of time. However, rather than resigning yourself and feeling like a victim of the traditional labor system, it's time to take control.

The key isn't simply trading time for money in a traditional job, but seeking opportunities to trade time for learning and growth. Internships, roles at startups, entrepreneurship, freelance work in areas of interest, or volunteer activities that expose you to new skills are alternatives that offer greater value. It's essential to focus on achieving the freedom to dedicate yourself to what truly matters to you, without losing sight of a passion for learning. The goal isn't just to work, but to grow constantly.

In the 2023 anime "Zom 100," the protagonist experiences work as a form of slavery, symbolized by the alarm that rings every morning. The arrival of zombies grants him unexpected freedom, and he reflects that, whether he dies now or at 60, he will never have time to do everything he wants. He decides to write down 100 things he wants to do before becoming a zombie. It's ironic how, in the midst of chaos and danger, he finds the motivation to pursue his true desires. Instead of taking his humanity, the zombies give it back by reminding him what really matters: living fully, without the chains of an unsatisfying job.

This story invites us to reflect on whether we are living according to our true desires or simply following an imposed routine. You don't need a zombie apocalypse to start pursuing your dreams. Sometimes it's enough to pause, take a notebook, and write down what you really want to do before it's too late.

It's important to recognize the privilege of those who have an environment that allows them to focus on their education and make the most of it. For those who don't, the alternative is to work twice as hard: seek scholarships, learn skills on your own, and leverage online resources to maximize your potential under challenging circumstances. Achieving this under such conditions is even more meritorious, demonstrating the ability to overcome adversity.

It doesn't matter if others have advantages or disadvantages; the path to success will always be a unique and personal challenge. Every step is a victory over your own difficulties, regardless of others' circumstances. The key is not to lose sight of your goals and not to let others' situations define your pace. Comparison only makes sense if it serves to inspire, not to discourage.

Expressing and sharing thoughts is a way to organize ideas and put one's own thinking into perspective, while also inspiring others. It's sad to see people trapped in jobs they don't want simply because they have no other choice, and I don't want to see loved ones in that situation in the future.

In a world where traditional work seems like the only path for many, it's essential to remember there are always alternatives. Staying focused on learning and the possibility of growing beyond the purely economic is essential. If your current job doesn't satisfy you, it's possible to seek small changes: perhaps a course, a freelance project, or a community that shares your interests. The freedom to decide how you spend your time and effort is a value that shouldn't be underestimated. Although the path isn't always easy, the reward of owning your future is worth it.

It's not just about surviving in the world of work, but about finding a path that allows you to live fully, learning and growing every day. Let work be a means to achieve freedom, not a chain that prevents you from living the life you want.
